Only God can provide you salvation (Mark 10:26-27)

When you read the gospel of Mark chapter 10 versus 26 and 27, you would find the disciples being exceedingly astonished with what Jesus stated prior to this in versus 23 to 25, “how hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God,” You should know Jesus was not condemning wealth and commending poverty rather he was conveying how hard it is for one to enter the kingdom of God. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.

As you know the Camel was one of the largest animals found in that part of the world. The very thought of trying to squeeze it, humps and all, through the eye of a needle would strike His disciples as funny, and also impossible. For the disciples salvation was harder than they thought. It takes only one thing like wealth to keep one out of God’s kingdom. Definitely Judaism was guilty of its own prosperity theology. Wealth and riches were seen as an evidence of God’s favor (Job 1:10; 42:10; Ps. 128:1-2; Isa. 3:10). The Lord Jesus is correcting their bad theology. The wealth can build a wall to the one thing necessary to enter the kingdom of God: childlike trust in Jesus (v.15). That’s the kind of trust we all are lacking in our lives.

Christ’s answer to their question is one of the great theological affirmations of the Bible: “With men it is impossible, but not with God, because all things are possible with God.” See, salvation is something man cannot accomplish. Salvation is, has always been, and will always be a divine accomplishment of God and through the perfect atonement and sacrificial death of God’s Son. With men, entering God’s kingdom and receiving eternal life is impossible, and no one will be saved. With God all things are possible, and anyone can be saved. Only God can bring you to Himself.

Remember this if you desire for Christ to be your Savior, you have to replace what you have been looking to as a Savior. There are many things in our lives. Let us reject those options and consider Jesus Christ as the only one to save our soul from hell. Come to Jesus Christ!

Come to Jesus Christ! GG
